FAQ

Everything merchants ask before installing a Shopify upload app.

Setup, protected customer data, file privacy, upload formats, ZIP downloads, and how SnapUpload behaves when checkout is not completed.

Do I need Shopify variants?

No. Global upload forms can apply to all products without using a fake default variant strategy.

How do uploads connect to orders?

SnapUpload stores a hidden upload ID with the line item and links the upload after Shopify sends the order webhook.

Why does Protected Customer Data matter?

Shopify requires protected data approval for order topics such as orders/create. Once approved, order linking can run in production.

Can customers upload multiple formats in one field?

Yes. Merchants can allow multiple file type groups in a single upload field.

Can customers upload PSD, AI, ZIP, and large production files?

Yes on paid plans for non-image production formats. Merchants can configure the maximum file size in settings, and SnapUpload enforces it in the browser and on the server.

Does SnapUpload include an image editor?

Yes. Image upload fields can enable a built-in crop step with rotate and flip controls before the customer confirms the upload.

Does SnapUpload replace full product configurator apps?

Not fully. SnapUpload is upload-first and works best beside Shopify product options or configurator apps when a store needs swatches, dropdowns, conditional logic, or price formulas.

Can I download all files at once?

Yes. Upload History supports single ZIP downloads and selected bulk ZIP downloads.

Are customer file URLs public in checkout?

No. Shopper-facing line item properties show a clean received message while actual download links stay inside the app.
